Tire Rotations

Your wheels are what come into direct contact with the ground when you’re driving. In order to protect you and your fellow travelers, the tread pattern helps you stay connected by providing grippage assistance. As time goes on, the tread starts to fade and becomes less effective. In order to keep your tread wear even, that’s when we rotate your tires. If your BMW is AWD, FWD, or RWD, some of the components wear down sooner than others and in those instances, we replace the most worn tires with the ones in areas that don’t receive the same amount of wear and tear. Your X1 has an Owner’s Manual with manufacturer recommendations of what your car’s drivetrain is so you can inform our technicians. 

Service and Frequency

Our Service Department recommends you schedule a tire rotation for your 2 Series every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. This will ensure you’re always driving with the right amount of tread so you’re not slipping or sliding around when it rains on your way home from Rebsamen Park. In a FWD model, the techs will move the rear wheels forward and vice versa. With an AWD vehicle, you’ll have to wait a bit longer as we have to move all four tires. Finally, we will replace the front wheels with the rear tires if your model is a RWD car.

Warning Signs

You can visibility check your tires to see if they need to be rotated. Running your fingers along the rubber of a stopped 3 Series will allow you to feel if there is uneven wear on the tread. If you’re driving, you might notice the car vibrating as you reach a higher speed, which is a warning sign you need to be on the lookout for. If your car pulls to either side can be an indicator you need your tires rotated. Finally, filling up your tires back to the right pressure constantly can be an indicator of the need for a tire rotation.
